Lutel wot hit any mon / Hou derne loue may stonde: the manuscript
London: British Library, Harley MS 2253, f. 128r

f. 128r full page | f. 128v full pageenlarged reproduction of poem

The poem immediately follows its religious equivalent, Lvtel wot hit any mon / Hou loue hym haueth ybounde, in the MS. As with its predecessor, the opening four lines of each stanza, rhyming abab, are laid out in pairs across the page; and after the first stanza, the abridged form of the refrain is written on the right-hand side of the page, opposite the final couplet of each stanza. Both are probably space-saving devices.
For a general discussion of the MS, see the introductory page on the Harley Lyrics; for a facsimile with description and discussion, see Ker (1965).
