Dr Hesham Bassyouny is a Lecturer in Accounting at Southampton Business School. He is teaching Introduction to Accounting and Finance for level 4 and International Accounting and Taxation for level 7. He is working on different research projects in the area of Financial Accounting.

Current research
Hesham is an active researcher and managed to publish in a number of internationally recognised journals, such as International Review of Financial Analysis and Journal of International Accounting, Auditing and Taxation. Hesham’s research interests are in the area of narrative reporting, corporate governance and Financial Accounting.

Hesham has teaching experience in Accounting for the past 10 years with a particular focus on Financial Accounting. He is mainly teaching Financial Reporting, Advanced Financial Accounting and Introduction to Accounting and Finance.
Biography
Dr Hesham Bassyouny is a Lecturer in Accounting at Southampton Business School. Hesham has been in academia for the past 10 years working in different international universities within the department of Accounting.
Hesham joined Southampton Business School in August 2022 and having previously held a Lecturer position in Accounting, a deputy programme leader for BSc Accounting and Finance and a research seminar co-ordinator in the Faculty of Business and Law at the University of Northampton.
Hesham completed his PhD in Accounting at the University of Portsmouth with a particular focus on Narrative Disclosure Tone in the UK context. He Also holds MSc in Accounting and Finance from Alexandria University. Hesham is recognised by the UK Advanced Higher Education (HEA) as a fellow in HEA.
