I am currently supervising five thesis projects investigating post-traumatic stress, moral injury and compassion within various populations, including NHS staff, firefighters, police officers and the homeless.
I am also supervising several small scale research projects within local NHS services.
Dr David Beattie is a Senior Teaching Fellow in Clinical Psychology at the University of Southampton. He also works as a Consultant Clinical Psychologist in a local adult NHS physical health service.
David has previously worked with serving firefighters, police and military personnel. David has a specialist interest in persistent pain and post-traumatic stress disorder and the impact of individuals' occupation on their mental health.
David is a clinical personal tutor and a deputy module coordinator for the Cognitive Behavioural Therapy module, and can supervise research projects on the topics of physical health, mental health and occupational stress across the MSc and DClin programmes.
