Centre for Psychosocial Research in Cancer: CentRIC+ Understanding the impact of cancer on everyday lives and supporting people to live well

CentRICis improving understanding of the impact of cancer on everyday lives and supporting people to live well and manage the consequences to improve health and wellbeing.

Our research involves those at increased risk of cancer, those living with and beyond a cancer diagnosis, their carers and health professionals. We include all aspects of health and wellbeing including physical, psychological, social, spiritual, cultural, and financial consequences of cancer.

Our expertise lies in UK wide prospective cohort studies, cancer survivorship, early detection, co-creating and testing complex interventions in self-management support, patient facing decision support tools, evaluation of service innovation, and qualitative studies within clinical trials. We apply our research expertise and methods to conditions beyond cancer where appropriate.

We collaborate with UK charities, health professional organisations and national agencies including NHS England and Health Education England, as well as hospitals and research teams across the UK and internationally.

CentRIC+ is based within the School of Health Sciences at the University of Southampton.
