LUZZASCO LUZZASCHI

c.1545-1607

Luzzasco Luzzaschi was one of two organists at the court of Ferrara during the reign of Duke Alfonso II d'Este.  Luzzaschi was the central male figure of the musica segreta; his Madrigali a uno, doi e tre soprani, published in 1601, is the only surviving musical document that attempts to record the performance practice of the singing ladies.
