Research Opportunities in the UK are available with Dr. Bennett's Research Group
in the area of parasite diagnosis
through applications to the MRC in the current round of funding:
The MRC invites applications for Industrial Collaborative
Studentships. This scheme seeks to enhance links between industry
and academia in the provision of high quality research training.
These awards provide the opportunity for graduates to receive
training in research, research methods and generic and transferable
skills, leading to the submission of a doctoral thesis, in the
context of both an industrial and academic settings. Research
training should be provided in medical or related biological
subjects jointly supervised by an industrial partner (from whom the
initiative in establishing a link with a university should come) and
an academic institution. The MRC especially wishes to encourage
applications from small to medium enterprises.
10 Industrial Collaborative studentships are available.
Support for up to 4 years will be considered.
The selected areas for funding include infection and in particular human diseases of poorer countries (as well as the UK) &
host-pathogen interactions ... would be particularly welcome.
CLOSING DATE FOR RECEIPT OF COMPLETED APPLICATIONS IS FRIDAY 31st OCTOBER 2003
