University Technology Partnership for Design

About the UTP

The Southampton arm of the University Technology Partnership for Design, supported by Rolls-Royce plc, is based in the Computational Engineering and Design Group (CEDG) of Southampton University. It consists of a small number of graduate students and post-doctoral workers led by Prof. A.J. Keane. Our basic aim is to apply modern design search and optimization tools to problems in aerospace engineering and related fields for the benefit of Rolls-Royce.

The other two arms of the University Technology Partnership are at the Cambridge University Engineering Design Centre and the Sheffield University Institute of Work Psychology.

We are always interested in collaboration with others active in this field. We sometimes need new research staff for particular projects. These are always advertised at jobs.ac.uk when available, please check that site before contacting us directly. This work is supported by Rolls-Royce Plc.

Studentships

We currently have a number of fully funded PhD studentships tenable by UK, EU or overseas studentships. These pay full fees and living expenses. If you would like to apply for one please complete and return the forms that may be found here. Please state that you would like to join the Computational Engineering and Design Group and that you are seeking a full studentship. Please also indicate the area of study you would like to engage in and any particular research interests and we will then assess your application and match it to our staff profile.
