Help us keep the Broadlands Archives at Southampton.
The Broadlands Archives are an outstanding collection of historical documents covering major political, diplomatic, social and economic events of the 19th and 20th centuries. They have been held by the University of Southampton for the past 20 years.
The Archives contain many historic gems including papers, diaries, letters and photographs from key historical figures, such as the Earl Mountbatten of Burma Gandhi and Queen Victoria. And with about 4,500 boxes of documents, there is still much more to discover.

“The Queen not having heard anything from Lord Palmerston respecting foreign affairs for so long a time and as he must be in constant communication with the foreign ministers in these most eventful and anxious times, wishes to urge Lord Palmerston to keep her informed of what he hears”
Queen Victoria, in a letter to the third Viscount Palmerston, 17 April 1848
Lord and Lady Mountbatten with Gandhi
