Southampton is a short distance from the beautiful surroundings of the New Forest, a UK national park blessed with wide open spaces, forest glades, picturesque villages and historic houses. Still grazed by cattle and pigs, and famous for its wild ponies, the scenery is spectacular and unspoilt – perfect for walking, cycling and horseriding.

The coastal resorts of Bournemouth, Poole and Brighton are nearby, with their fabulous beaches and great nightlife.

The Isle of Wight is a short ferry trip away, and hosts Skandia Cowes Week. This is the largest sporting event in the UK after the London Marathon with almost 1000 yachts and 8000 competitors taking part. The eight-day event concludes with a spectacular firework display every year.

With excellent road, rail and air links (London is just over an hour away by train), you can easily get away or visit home whenever you want to.
