Postgraduate research supervision awards

Postgraduate research supervision awards are presented at each summer graduation. Due to seat restrictions in the ceremonial halls, award recipients are not expected to bring guests to graduation.
The award recipients will sit on the end of the second row of platform. The order of each ceremony is: graduands (Bachelors, Masters, PhD), higher doctorates, teaching awards, PG research supervision awards, Honorary Graduands.
When the reader announces that a PG research supervision award is about to be given, the recipient rises and makes their way round to the Presiding Officer. The Presiding Officer will congratulate them, shake hands and present the award in a specially designated folder. Recipients are not expected to make a speech. They will then return to their seat.
Award-holders have to be robed for the ceremony and their pre-ordered robe is located in the Academic Robing Room in the Annex of Building 2. Award-holders should line up in the academic procession, being placed in position by the Academic Marshal.
For further details about these awards (objectives, criteria and nomination process) please visit the information on the LATEU website.
Celebration
The recipients will be presented with award certificates at the appropriate summer graduation ceremonies. It is expected that they will attend (one of) their Faculties ceremonies and be seated with the rest of the academic staff as part of the platform party. Seats for award-holders will be allocated by the Graduation Team. This website carries further information for all staff at graduation.
Award recipients will wear appropriate academic robes and must request this through their Faculties Graduation Staff Participation Coordinator in the normal manner no later than the end of May in readiness for the first Friday in June robe order deadline.
At the end of the ceremony, the recipient will receive their award from the Presiding Officer in front of the collected audience.
The Vice Chancellor will host a joint celebration for recipients of the VCs teaching awards and PG research supervision awards later in the academic year; this normally takes the form of a dinner in November/December.

Details of the awards made will be publicised on the University website, Graduate Faculty and other sites as appropriate.
