VC teaching, research and interprofessional awards

Each year the VC’s teaching/research awards are presented at graduation. Teaching/research award recipients can be as a single person award or a group award. If it is for a group award then a maximum of three seats are allocated for the School on the platform due to seat restrictions on numbers in the ceremonial halls. For this reason teaching/research award nominees are not expected to bring guests to graduation.
The Teaching/research award nominee/s will sit on the end of the second row of platform. The order of each ceremony is: graduands (Bachelors, Masters, PhD), higher doctorates, teaching/research Awards, honorary graduands.
When the reader makes their speech to say that a teaching/research award is about to be given, you rise and come round to the Presiding Officer. The Presiding Officer will congratulate you, shake hands and present your teaching/research award in a specially designated folder. You are not expected to make a speech. Please then resume your seat.
Teaching/research award nominees have to be robed for ceremony and their pre-ordered robe is located in the Academic Robing Room (winter Murray Building 58, summer Building 2 Annex). Teaching/research award nominees line up in the academic procession, the Academic Marshal will place you in the correct position in the line, you will then proceed with the academic procession.
