Research expertise

Current research projects

I am currently working on Nancy Huston's Lignes de faille (2006), and on Gisèle Bienne’s novel Marie-salope (1976). I am also preparing a research paper on the work of Annie Ernaux for an international conference in New York in 2010.

My main research interests lie in the field of contemporary women's writing, especially in France. I am particularly interested in ethno-autobiographical writing, in psychoanalysis and in the role of affect in the processes of reading and writing.

Postgraduate supervision

I would be pleased to hear from applicants interested in:

  • Contemporary French women's writing
  • Psychoanalytical approaches to literature
  • Life-writing, autobiography and testimony
  • Bilingual writers and the negotiation of cross-cultural identities

Recent completed postgraduate supervision

I have acted as Supervisor for a PhD thesis on the work of Jean Grenier and for a thesis (for the degree of M. Phil.) on Sartre and the Jewish Question. I have also acted as an advisor on a PhD thesis on the work of Luce Irigaray, and on a PhD thesis that investigates adolescent series fiction in France from a Deleuzian perspective.
