Finding books and e–books
Books in other librariesBooks in this Library
The Hartley Library houses the main collection for Education books on Level 1. As there are many aspects to this subject, however, you may find that material will be in different sections of the Library.
To find the location of the item you want you will need to search the library catalogue, WebCat. For help and guidance on using WebCat, see the Library's WebCat Pages.
In general, education books have different call numbers to the rest of the books at the Hartley. The majority of them have Dewey call numbers, e.g. 370.78. Other book stock is shelved using Library of Congress call numbers, e.g. HV 238.
There are floor plans in the Library to help you locate your book, and if you need any help, please ask at one of the Library’s enquiry points.
Some older books are not fully described on WebCat or do not appear at all. You should check the card catalogue, located on Level 3, if you are looking for older material.
Copies of some core course books are held in the Reserve Collection.
e-Books
e-Books purchased by the Library are also accessible via WebCat. In order to access these you must log on to WebCat with your User ID and PIN Number. Your User ID is the number found on your University ID Card and your PIN is a 4 digit number obtainable, in person, from any enquiry desk in the Library.
