The School of Law is unique in offering a wide range of Pro Bono initiatives for undergraduate LLB students and the most recent addition to the Pro Bono work portfolio, is BarLink, in which students may be twinned with a barrister specialising in criminal law, employment law, family law and housing law.

Dr Remigius N Nwabueze, Senior Lecturer, will be presenting research to the Society of Legal Scholars workshop, entitled, Fair Trials Abroad, on 6th May 2010.

Alkis Simopoulos and Lauren Hayes, (mooters) third year students, and Matthew Dow (researcher) second year student, represented the University of Southampton School of Law Mooting Team at the D. M. Harish Memorial International Moot Court Competition, organised by the Law Government College in Mumbai.

The LLM Careers Fair, an event which gives students the opportunity to meet prospective employers and familiarise themselves with the UK and international job market for LLM graduates.

Professor Hazel Biggs recently published ‘Healthcare, Research, Ethics and Law’, and will present aspects of it at the national NHS R&D Forum in May 2010

Dr Caroline Jones will speak on the issues new reproductive technologies raise for family law and policy, at a two-day agenda-setting workshop on ‘Family, Regulation and Society’ hosted by the Nuffield Foundation, on 15th and 16th March.

Mark Telford will deliver a seminar in the School of Law, on 17 March 2010 on his current research into the determinants of the current minimum age of criminal responsibility in England and Wales.

The new distance learning LLM in IT and Telecommunications Law has been validated at University of Southampton and teaching will commence in 2010-11.
