It is with deep regret that the School of Law announces the death on the 26th July 2010 of Professor Gerrit Betlem. He will be sadly missed as a friend and close colleague to many members of the School, as a supportive supervisor to his research students and for his valuable contribution to teaching and research.

The 2011 University league table guides put Southampton's Law School in 6th and 8th positions for student satisfaction and the 2009 NSS showed that 93% of Law students were 'satisfied overall with the course.'

The Society of Legal Scholars Annual conference is being held here at Southampton, in and around the Law School over four days, the 13th -16th September.

International Students Welcome

The School of Law looks forward to welcoming all international students in September; In addition to the University activities there is an academic welcome in the Nuffield Theatre next to the School of Law, at 14.00 on the 24th September.

LLM Student Experience

LLM Students visit Supreme Court UK

A group of about 25 LLM students from the University of Southampton, School of Law attended the hearing of the case 'Cendor MOPU' on 27 and 28 July 2010. The case was heard by the Supreme Court at its new premises located in London, right in the heart of Westminster. This trip was one of many extracurricular events and experiences provided by the School of Law, for its LLM students.

Pathways students

The University of Southampton Law School is one of only seven Universities in England to have been chosen to participate in the Pathways to Law Programme. The scheme which has been running for three years, is based on a College of Law and Sutton Trust initiative designed to attract fresh talent into the legal profession.
