Based on research from research staff and managers the new UK Researcher Development Framework (RDF) is now published.

The RDF covers four overarching domains:

C) Research Governance and Organisation
D) Engagement, Influence and Impact
The full RDF is available online and there is a matching shorter reference document and summary called the Research Development Statement.
Vitae is a national organisation championing the personal, professional and career development of doctoral researchers and research staff in higher education institutions and research institutes. Their website contains lots of useful information for research staff.
The Concordat to Support the Career Development of Researchers sets out the expectations and responsibilities of researchers, their managers, employers and funders. It aims to increase the attractiveness and sustainability of research careers in the UK and to improve the quantity, quality and impact of research for the benefit of UK society and the economy.
The Careers in Research On-line Survey (CROS) 2009
The University of Southampton participated in CROS in May 2009 – to find out what you said about the University, log on to Sussed and click the Services tab. Select Professional Services from the list on the left and open the folder ‘University Secretary’ (do not enter the webpage for the University Secretary) – within this folder is ‘Business Intelligence’. Open ‘Business Intelligence’ and CROS is located under ‘Research and Evaluation’.
Southampton is intending to take part on the 2011 CROS.
