SUSSED Portal
SUSSED (Southampton University Staff/student Social & Educational Directory) is the University's Web portal. The portal provides a personalised view of the web resources that are available to you as a member of the University. The content that you see when you log on to the portal is tailored according to your role whether student or member of staff within the University. Currently only members of the University and external users with visitor accounts are able to access SUSSED.
SUSSED is accessed using your username and password. Once you have logged in to the portal you will not need to log-in again to use email, Blackboard, or any of the University administrative services that are available to support students and staff.
You can login to the SUSSED portal from any internet enabled PC and see exactly the same content. As well as the default information provided for you when you first login you are able to customise your view of the portal to add other items you use frequently or to remove items you do not use.
Default information depends on your role within the University but will include:
- Access to your University email account
- Information from your School
- Access to applications including Blackboard, past exam papers and timetables
- News and announcements from the University
- Access to University Professional Services
- Course programme details
- The student record system
Personalised content that can be customised includes any or all of the following:
- Access to online communities, forums and chatrooms
- Bookmarks (like Favourites on Internet Explorer)
- Google search (and Google Scholar)
- RSS Newsfeeds from your favourite news sites
- RSS Newsfeeds in your academic subject
