Up to 2000 visitors are expected to visit the University of Southampton on each day of graduation.  There is no parking available on the Highfield Campus - AA signs will direct you to Wessex Lane Park & Ride.

Getting to Highfield Campus at the University of Southampton:

By Car:

Southampton is just 75 miles (120km) from London and 21 Miles from the Channel ports.  The M3, M27 and A34 provide fast, direct access.  The A36 is the main route from the West Country.

From the M3 – exit at junction 14, following signs for Southampton (A33).  Follow the A33 into Bassett Avenue and follow the map/signs to University campuses Park & Ride.

From the M27 (west or east) – leave the M27 at junction 5 (Southampton Airport) and follow the map/signs to University campuses Park & Ride.

AA signs will direct you to graduation at University of Southampton on the north, south, east and west approaches of the city.

 

By Rail:

Fast trains from London and Bournemouth/Weymouth stop at Southampton Central and Southampton Airport Parkway.  Trains from Portsmouth and Bristol/South Wales stop at Southampton Central.  From both Southampton Central and Southampton Airport Parkway you will need to take a taxi for the short journey to the University’s Highfield Campus.  The Uni-Link Bus Service, U1, runs from the rail station to Highfield Campus on a regular basis.

 

By Coach:

National Express provides regular services from central London, Heathrow, Birmingham, Bournemouth and the North.  Southampton coach station is at Western Esplanade, in the City centre.  The University’s own Uni-Link buses connect the University’s campuses and the City centre.  Some National Express coaches come into Highfield Campus directly - please check with your driver.

 

By Air:

Southampton International Airport is a few minutes away from the University of Southampton campuses by bus or taxi.  This airport has a full UK domestic service, as well as flights to mainland Europe and beyond.  The Uni-Link bus service, U1, connects the airport to the Highfield Campus.
