Hummingbird Doctoral Research Journal
The aims of the Hummingbird Journal are:-
- To publicise and promote doctoral research within the University
- To appeal to a broad readership across the University and beyond
- To be inclusive across all academic groups
- To give a flavour of the research within the University Faculties, without necessarily attempting to be representative
- To give contributors the opportunity to develop their skills in communicating their research to wider audience
- To give PGR students training and experience in reviewing academic papers
- To give the Editorial Board training and experience in academic editorship and managing the review process
Building on the success of the first issue, the RDGC is very keen to ensure that the Journal fulfils the above aims across the entire University.
Hummingbird was inaugurated in 2009 by the LASS Faculty Graduate School as a student-led publication celebrating the wealth of doctoral research within the Faculty.
If you are a University of Southampton PGR student and are interested either in being part of the academic Editorial Board, or in submitting a paper for publication, or would simply like more information, you are invited to contact : Peri Bradley and Sarah Lee, Joint Editors in chief (humbird@soton.ac.uk)
