Southampton Education School is one of the country’s leading institutes for education research, ranking 23rd nationally. In the latest UK government assessment of university research quality – REF 2021 – 82 % of our research publications were rated internationally excellent or of world leading quality.

Our academics carry out world-leading research in the areas of Inclusion; Mathematics, Science, and Health education; and Educational Policy, including the areas of leadership, school effectiveness and Higher Education. We aim to make a real difference to the profession through collaborating with a range of partners.

Research within the School is structured both to denote the School's principal research themes, and to reflect wider inter-disciplinary interests.
