Module overview

Theoretical component:

The theoretical component will include learning activities associated with decision-making followed by interactive sessions that build into transition to becoming a practising midwife. The role of the midwife as assessor will be explored to support you as a future supervisor of new learners in practice. You will be offered a 1-1 record-keeping audit/practice reflection by a Professional Midwifery Advocate to support your transition to a qualified midwife.

Practice related component:

You will be required to complete five caseload experiences. This will be introduced earlier within the programme to allow time for planning and risk assessing. There is a risk assessment caseload document that needs completing per caseload. Each caseload will require a user feedback evaluation, This will be something that you will incorporate within written reflections and add to your portfolio of evidence that will support future first post interviews.
