Student Behaviour
The vast majority of our students are extremely well behaved, law-abiding, citizens; but as with any large population of people, there is a small minority who can ruin it for everyone.
Student behaviour can have an impact on all of us living or working on university campuses and in the local area.
The University of Southampton will not tolerate anti-social behaviour, whether it affects other students, staff or local residents. Such behaviour can ruin the good name of the University and create distress and unease in those targeted by it. When our students join the University, they agree to abide by the University’s rules. Any student who brings the University of Southampton’s name into disrepute risks facing disciplinary action.
Maintaining a good relationship with our neighbours is in everyone’s interest. It is important that we all show consideration for other people’s lifestyles and property. Behaviour that disturbs local residents, criminal damage and other criminal acts will not be tolerated. If necessary, the University will involve the police.
The behaviour of the vast majority of students is exemplary; they are responsible, considerate, and good neighbours to their community.
