Welcome to the Making Citizens learning activity.
Aims of the activity
The overall aim of this activity is for you to consider what knowledge and skills are necessary for citizenship and how these are acquired. In particular it focuses on the citizenship test for those seeking British citizenship and on citizenship education in British schools. What lessons can be learnt from these two relatively recent initiatives?

- Assess the extent to which the citizenship test and ceremony are an effective process in granting British citizenship.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of citizenship education in British schools.
- Express an informed opinion on the knowledge and skills required for effective citizenship and how these might be acquired.
