The Southampton University Students’ Union (SUSU), located at the Highfield Campus, is the hub of the University social scene.
The recent completion of a £6 million refurbishment has extended the union building and created a 1700-capacity nightclub (The Cube) and a 330-seat cinema, which shows recent films at competitive prices. The Union's entertainment programme includes live bands, jazz, karaoke and comedy evenings. There are also more than 200 sporting and social clubs and societies, from jazz dancing through to performing arts clubs and the Debating Society.
SUSU facilities include:
- the Cube nightclub, which features live music, club nights, karaoke, DJs and international nights
- uniplex cinema, which shows recently released films at reduced prices
- a shop stocking a wide variety of everyday items, including food and stationery
- a travel centre, which can organise trips abroad, weekend breaks, rail tickets and visits home
- a stylish hair and beauty salon called ‘Shine’
- the SUSU café which serves hot and cold food all day long
- five bars
In addition to the Highfield Campus, the Winchester School of Art has its own Students' Union, with a wide range of facilities that include a travel centre, athletic union and a students' advice and information centre.
